5.6 Schlüter
®
-BARA-RAM
Installation
1.
At the edges of the concrete slab, the
anchoring leg of Schlüter
®
-BARA-RAM is
placed on a thin layer of mortar
, vertically
aligned and fixed into position.
2.
T
o receive the Schlüter
®
-DITRA bonded
waterproof membrane, the screed is
carefully compacted and screeded off
at a height 3 mm below the upper edge
of the profile. As soon as the screed can
be walked upon, Schlüter
®
-DITRA can
be installed, while observing the instruc-
tions outlined in the Product Data Sheet
6.1. The Schlüter
®
-DITRA waterproofing
membrane should abut the edge of the
profile. The remaining joint between the
Schlüter
®
-DITRA waterproofing mem-
brane and the profile is covered with
Schlüter
®
-KERDI-BAND. The sealing strip
must be applied over a minimum 5 cm of
the Schlüter
®
-DITRA and carried over the
cut back channels in the bonding flange of
Schlüter
®
-BARA-RAM, using the special
adhesive Schlüter
®
-KERDI-FIX. Once the
Schlüter
®
-DITRA waterproofing mem-
brane has been installed, tiles can be set
immediately using dry set mortar, ensuring
that the tiles are aligned vertically flush
with the drip edge of Schlüter
®
-BARA-
RAM.
3. If trowel applied waterproof membranes
from other manufacturers are to be in-
stalled, the sloping screed is placed flush
with the upper edge of Schlüter
®
-BARA-
RAM. The selected waterproofing mem-
brane is carried over the cut back ribs of
the bonding flange. For the installation of
bonded waterproof systems, the instruc-
tions of the respective manufacturer have
to be observed.
4.
Waterproofing layers according to DIN
18 195 must be installed so that the
sloped screed is flush with the upper pro-
file edge of Schlüter
®
-BARA-RAM. Once
the sloping screed has cured, the selected
waterproofing membrane is carried over
the cut back ribs on the bonding flange
of Schlüter
®
-BARA-RAM and bonded
securely with a suitable adhesive.
5.
Covering assemblies installed over a
waterproofing layer according to DIN
18 195, Section 5, must be carried out
while observing the applicable rules and
regulations, and may include the instal-
lation of a drainage membrane with a
subsequent load distribution layer (e.g.,
screed bed), a gravel layer
, or large format
pavers supported by pedestals or stilts.
6.
Note: Prefabricated corners and con-
nectors are available for internal corners,
external corners, and butt joints. The
profile ends of Schlüter
®
-BARA-RAM
are to be abutted, leaving an approx.

5 mm joint. The joint is covered with the
snap-on connector. Applicable standards
and installation guidelines in effect at the
time for the respective floor assembly
must be observed. All materials must be
weather and water resistant and suitable
for exterior use.
Maintenance
Schlüter
®
-BARA-RAM requires no special
maintenance or care. The coated surface
of the aluminium profile is colourfast and UV
resistant. Damaged visible surfaces can be
restored with paint.
